24 hours after a much needed win, the Carolina Hurricanes are back at it, with some new life. Here is who needs to step up again today.

The Carolina Hurricanes finally got their win, but no time to rest or celebrate as they play again today at 1:30 pm!

It’s unfortunate that the Canes let the Islanders get away with a point in a hot divisional matchup, but the Canes still have 1-3 games in hand on every team in the Metro.

Hopefully this win is a stepping stone and the Canes build off of it today. This will be the first meeting between the Canes and the Pens. While the Canes finally got their much needed win, the Pens after the trade deadline have not looked like the same team as before. Is there a chance? Yes, and here is why.

Carolina Hurricanes Fantasy Picks

. Pick Analysis. D. Haydn Fleury. 4. player. 109. Season Report

UNIONDALE, NEW YORK – MARCH 07: Haydn Fleury #4 of the Carolina Hurricanes celebrates his goal against the New York Islanders at 13:22 of the Carolina Hurricanes at NYCB Live’s Nassau Coliseum on March 07, 2020 in Uniondale, New York. (Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images)

Since the Dougie injury Haydn has stepped up immensely. He has looked like and played like a top 4 D man for the Canes. His confidence is skyrocketing and his defensive skills are sharp. He now has 2 points in the last 3 games and 12 points on the year. It’s time for Haydn to shine and he is a great pick to get you some points on fantasy as well!

Pick Analysis. Vincent Trocheck. 16. Season Report. F. . player. 109

UNIONDALE, NEW YORK – MARCH 07: Sebastian Aho #20 and Vincent Trocheck #16 of the Carolina Hurricanes celebrate their 3-2 overtime victory over the New York Islanders at NYCB Live’s Nassau Coliseum on March 07, 2020 in Uniondale, New York. (Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images)

While the picture above is from Trocheck’s game winning OT goal, and first goal as a Cane, just take a second to appreciate Aho. How can you not love that kid.

But on a serious note, Trochecks first goal as a Canes came at the absolute perfect time. He has clearly been meshing well with the guys, and has been a pest on the ice. The first goal fell now we should be able to expect a lot more out of the new guy.

Season Report. Pick Analysis. F. Andrei Svechnikov. 37. player. . 109

PHILADELPHIA, PA – MARCH 05: Andrei Svechnikov #37 of the Carolina Hurricanes skates away from Tyler Pitlick #18 of the Philadelphia Flyers in the second period at Wells Fargo Center on March 5, 2020 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Drew Hallowell/Getty Images)

Svechnikov should never really have come out of your fantasy line up. But if you moved him to the bench because he was cold for the last few games, time to put him back in.

2 assists yesterday, 60 points on the year, never get rid of Svechnikov. He’s not one to lay down and give in. He is going to fight till the last siren and he will produce. Some new life was put in to the Canes yesterday and Svechnikov will take full advantage of this and go off today, bank on it.

Canes Playoff Push

With 3 games in hand on Columbus and only 2 points out of WC2 there are really only two games that matter today, honestly with equal importance:

Canes > Pens

Canucks > Blue Jackets

Pitt might be favored but with the Canes finally finding that much needed win, they are dangerous. Time to get some money back from the last week or so. Canes get this one in Regulation 4-2.
