After months of speculation, it’s official folks. The Carolina Hurricanes will be the hosts of the 2021 NHL Stadium Series game.
IT’S HAPPENING!!! EVERYBODY STAY CALM!!! THE HURRICANES ARE GETTING AN OUTDOOR GAME!
The news leaked earlier today as you all know but I’m gonna say it louder for the folks in the back. The Carolina Hurricanes are going to be hosting the 2021 Stadium Series game.
After months of speculation and rumors it was stated on Twitter earlier today by 99.9 The Fan radio host, Adam Gold, that the Carolina Hurricanes will be hosting next years Stadium Series game. And Carter-Finley Stadium will be the venue for said game.
He went on to state that in a conversation with Carolina Hurricanes owner, Tom Dundon, it is looking like either the Washington Capitols or Pittsburgh Penguins will be the opponents for our favorite bunch of jerks.
This breaking news was later confirmed by ESPN senior NHL writer, Greg Wyshynski. As well as Chip Alexander of the News and Observer, as well as WRAL news.
Then during tonight’s game between the Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs we got the official announcement from the Hurricanes and NHL. On February 20th, 2021 the Carolina Hurricanes will host the NHL Stadium Series in what will be their first outdoor game in franchise history. The game will take place at NC State’as football stadium, good ole’ Carter-Finley Stadium.
As of right now, there has not been an opponent announced, but that should be coming within the next couple of months I’d assume. Fans have been speculating on who they could face. Names ranging from the Penguins, to the Lightning, to the Blue Jackets. Personally, I’d like to see the Canes take on the Bolts.
It’s also important to note that the Carolina Hurricanes are the first team in the south east to host an outdoor game. So y’all better start making plans for next February. It’s time to take the outdoor hockey world by storm.
Question for CC readers: Will you go to the 2021 Stadium Series if it’s in Raleigh?
