The Carolina Hurricanes snagged a much needed win late Thursday night. A few players have a new found rhythm that will also get the win tonight. Here’s where you should place your bets.

The hockey gods were on our side late Thursday night. Rod has gotten tired of us know-it-all’s on Twitter and said, “Fine, you want the best line in hockey, here it is.”

Finally putting Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, and Teuvo Teravainen together was the best thing to happen since re-signing Justin Williams. This one line produced 7 offensive points last night! SEVEN! There were only 5 goals by the Carolina Hurricanes; this isn’t counting Aho’s own-goal.

As a coach, I do understand the value of depth and having rather even lines. You don’t want your top line to get burnt out and not be able to play the last period, and have a line out there that can’t score. But this is the NHL, not high school lacrosse. This top line can handle the minutes. And when your team isn’t producing, you have to put out your best guys on the same line and let them run wild.

Fantasy picks for Tonight – The Money Line

Sebastian Aho

8 points in 5 games. That’s our Aho, back to life, and back to racking up points in the stat sheet. Aho now has 29 goals on the year, and is on a good pace to possibly pass Eric Staal for most goals in a single season.

You have to speculate Aho knows this. Of course he would like the record, but will do whatever is necessary to win first. He will make the smart pass if that is what’s best, but he will use this feat of glory simply for inspiration to keep driving on.

Andrei Svechnikov

Svechnikov has 7 points in the last 5 games; one behind Aho. Svechnikov, however, has a point lead on Aho this season, for a total of 50 points.

I’m sure this creates a healthy bit of competition between the buddies on the ice. While they might joke about who has more points in the locker room, there is none of that one the ice. With each of these guys assisting the other last game for a goal, it’s easy to say winning is more important than stats for them.

Teuvo Teravainen

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – FEBRUARY 06: Goalie Antti Raanta #32 of the Arizona Coyotes makes a glove save on the shot attempt by Teuvo Teravainen #86 of the Carolina Hurricanes during the first period of the NHL hockey game at Gila River Arena on February 06, 2020 in Glendale, Arizona. Now, if we want to talk about a healthy banter of who has more points, I would put my money that while Aho and Svechnikov laugh about their stats, Teuvo just plots on how to get more points than each every game.

Teravainen also has 7 in the last 5 games, and 52 points on the season as the Carolina Hurricanes’ leading scorer.

The point to make here, besides all of the possible locker room fun of ‘who scored more’, is that the three best guys on the team make up the best line. This line is amazing, as seen on Thursday. If Rod comes out with, and starts, this line, it’s OVER for the Vegas Golden Knights.

Canes Playoff Push

The Carolina Hurricanes currently sit in the Eastern second wild card spot in the playoff standings, with 65 points in 54 games.

For tonight, there are a plethora of games with Eastern playoff implications. Here is how to root for the right teams, and in order of importance, according to me:

Canes over Vegas

Washington over Philly (this one hurts, I know, but it must be done)

Pittsburgh over Florida

Tampa Bay over Isles

Avs over Columbus

Habs over Leafs (I know, another tough one)

The key to this madness is to win, protect the playoff spot we have, then to see those above us lose.
