How Carolina Hurricanes Fans Should Prepare for The Final Stretch
The final, post season stretch is upon us. Here is how you as Caniacs can prepare for the playoffs and have some fun with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Alright Caniacs here we are: post all star break, no Dougie Hamilton, eyes on the playoffs again. What do we do? How do we contain our excitement and emotions going forward as we make another push to June?
There is a lot going on in Caniac World right now, so let’s make sure you are informed and as least stressed as possible going forward.
1. The Numbers
Haha, no stress going forward, good one. With 32 games left to play there will be stress and tons of emotion, but take a deep breath and take a look at some comforting stats. Here are how the Metro shakes up as of today.
The Carolina Hurricanes are currently sitting in Wild Card spot number 2, which would pair us with, oh look the caps. The Canes are back in action Friday and sit only 1 point behind WC1 and 2 points (a win) behind Metro #3.
Another idea to keep in mind is that Pitt is sitting in the Metro #2 spot which means 4 home games of the 7 if needed for the first round. With the Canes being only 6 points, 3 games, behind the Penguins AND still all four meetings left between the teams, The Canes still have a lot of control of their own destiny.
Also, 10 out of the next 15 games for the Canes are against the West. The Canes are a wholesome 14-3-2 against the west. And Since none of the Pitt games come up until March, after these next 15 games, this is a good time for the Canes to get some points and gain some ground.
2. The Trade Deadline
There are a lot, A LOT, of rumors out there for the Canes and really every NHL team making some key trades before the trade deadline on February 24th. Who knows, we could secure another Nino type trade and project ourselves into the presidents cup race.
As noted in the related story above you can always seek guidance from us for trade rumors. But where else can you go? Social media, especially twitter. There are all kinds of rumors and tid-bits thrown around on NHL and Canes twitter every day.
Click Here to find us at Cardiac Cane on twitter and other social medias. If we don’t directly tweet about trades or rumors for the Canes, we are probably retweeting someone who is.
3. Go to a Game
It’s exciting and amazing and if at all possible make your way out to a game. We have 8 sell out games so far this year but just about all that i have personally been to (11 and often on weeknights when tickets are cheap) have seemed full.
The boys love all us Caniacs and feed off of our energy. The Canes are a dangerous team at home and it is because of all of you Caniacs. They play for the city and all of their fans.
So, take a deep breath and get back to either your work or studying now. The boys will compete and give it their all and will be playing past April 4th once again this year. Check back in with us for more ways to stay involved with the Caniac community, but for now, keep your heads up, and take warning.
