Carolina Hurricanes: Slavin to Replace Dougie in All Star Game
Jaccob Slavin will replace Dougie Hamilton at the 2020 NHL All Star Game after Hamilton was injured in last night’s matchup.
The Carolina Hurricanes suffered a significant loss last night, as Dougie Hamilton broke his left fibula after getting tangled up with Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kevin Stenlund. The timetable for his return is unknown at the time of writing.
This left many in doubt as to who would replace him at the All Star Game this year. Some fans were rallying behind sophomore phenom Andrei Svechnikov to bring his hockey (and lacrosse) talents to the All Star Game in St. Louis, but the NHL wasted no time in naming Jaccob Slavin as Hamilton’s replacement.
Jaccob Slavin is an incredibly solid defenseman, easily one of the best on the Carolina Hurricanes’ roster, and arguably the entire league.
This will be Slavin’s first All Star Game appearance, and I’m sure he will represent the Carolina Hurricanes terrifically.
Jaccob Slavin, an alternate captain for the Carolina Hurricanes, is not only a leader, but he is imperative to the Hurricanes’ success in a similar way to Dougie. Dougie is an offensive force to be reckoned with, and Slavin is every bit as much on defense.
Slavin has registered 22 points (4g, 18a) in 47 games played this season despite being mainly a defensive defenseman. In my opinion, the Carolina Hurricanes have many players who could easily have been named to the All Star Game, but Slavin is just as deserving as any of them.
