Fantasy Picks and Betting Odds: Carolina Hurricanes @ Columbus Blue Jackets
Canes are back at it again, this time in Ohio. Here is who needs to step up on the ice for your fantasy team and bets to go positive tonight.
So after back to back shut outs, one by each goalie, the Carolina Hurricanes get shut out up in DC. If you’re seeking a personal, or professional, explanation; there are none. But alas, we press on.
The Canes showed a lot of speed and grit with 3 consecutive home wins, all being high scoring. Only one game later they show out with a slow lack-luster performance offensively.
With today’s game being a potential 3 spot swing from WC 1 to out of the playoffs, this one is important. The boys know this, Rod knows this, so what will happen? Could we see Williams, or some line changes? Let’s discuss.
Rod must have gone full blender on the boys yesterday. Look at how he ran some of practice.
While the Official line projections won’t come out for a few hours, we can be hopeful for some changes. Will these changes include Justin Williams? Probably not yet. With Tuesday off and practice yesterday, there is a chance but I wouldn’t bet on it yet. So who do you start?
Amidst the line changes that are possible, it does not really matter who Aho plays with he will show out. Ideally we all want to see the Finnish connection of him and Teravainen, but sometimes change is good and healthy.
Aho is never one to lay down. After a bad or tough loss, much like Monday night, he will go out of his way to avoid that same result.
Sebastian will show up tonight in a big way, regardless of who his line mates are. The biggest question is the power play which Aho has been quite on for a few games. Once that is back, Aho is a fantasy menace.
The talk of line changes are exciting to generate some new offensive looks, but the REM line is so good they shouldn’t be split up.
IF Rod goes A-Wall and give Haula a chance with anyone else, he will still stay put at center.
While some change is needed, Rod knows that Haula is the Canes best crease attack man. He will stay under center no matter what. He finds the back of the net here and expect that tonight.
Jake has really picked it up recently, which is a great thing for all Canes fans, and Rod’s blood pressure. With 3 points in the last 3 games Jake’s has stepped up his defense as well as his offense.
The biggest key to highlight with Gardiner is the power play. PP1 has not gotten the look they have wanted for some time and has come up dry lately. Don’t be surprised if Rod calls out PP2 to start the man advantage tonight.

This game is beyond important for both teams, but the Canes need a comeback after being shut out. Slow start, possibly even going into the 2nd trailing, but the Canes come out on top 4-2.
