Fantasy Picks and Betting Odds: Carolina Hurricanes vs the Philadelphia Flyers
The Carolina Hurricanes need a push in the positive direction, and tonight we lean on the super stars to get it done.
So 2020 didn’t quite get off to the start that the Canes wanted it to. That’s a part of the beautiful game of Hockey, there are 82 games and we can’t win them all. So on to the next.
To recap, the Canes took another loss at home to a surging Lightning team on Sunday afternoon. 3-1 and the only goal came from Svechnikov after a beautiful pass from Slavin. The second period was not quite ideal of how the boys, and Rod, want to play, but it happens. We have to have the same speed and grit to start the night as we did on that magnificent road trip a few weeks ago.
How do the Canes do this? Super stars. For the first time this season, there will be 4 recommendations to start Canes tonight in fantasy. Tonight is a big match-up between teams on the playoff line. The Canes need this win bad, and there are 4 guys who have totaled over 37 points each thus far. These players are highlighted in a recent article of why not to give up hope. We need all of them tonight.
As stated above and in the related article, Sebastian Aho has 37 points on the season, 23 of these being goals making him the second highest goal scorer in the Metro.
Aho is in a slight slump of 3 points in 5 games, but not to worry. He will bounce back, he always does. With no All-Star game for him this year there will be a fire under him. Why didn’t I get in, what more do I have to prove? Aho’s mentality isn’t ever to sulk and say poor me, but to put the team on his back and do the work.
Tonight Aho jumps back on the scoring train, bank on it.
Also, if you have not done so yet today, go vote for Teuvo Teravainen for NHL All-Star last man in!
Teravainen now has 10 points in the last 10 games. He is an assist MACHINE. If he is on the ice, he will have an amazing look to someone, most often his buddy Aho. This means not only more fantasy points for you but stats to pad for the case of all star.
Teravainen has been one of, if not, the most reliable players the Canes have. If Chris Paul played hockey, and was Finnish, he’s be Teravainen. So start Teuvo and go vote. He knows whats on the line and will step up tonight.
Andrei Svechnikov does not take a game off rest assured. Even with the rest of the team slacking in the scoring department he still shows out. While, yes, other Canes need to step up and feed the beast Andrei will be at work tonight.
Svechnikov has 3 points in the last two games. Even though these games ended up in the loss column, he is still fighting. Expect even more tonight, Svechnikov will never lay down because times get tough. He makes other better on the ice.
So if Svech can still score and impact your fantasy team with the Canes losing, imagine what he will do tonight with a win. Especially with help form his BFF, our next pic.
We have all heard of the mysterious post all star slump, but it seems that Dougie is having a pre all star slump with only 4 points since being named to the Metro All-Star roster.
What is going on with our boy? We don’t have the answer for that one unfortunately. But Dougie works hard and knows his value and what he means to the team and the city. He will get back on track for us. It starts tonight. With him still being on the power play unit with Svechnikov, they will link up for a goal or two.
Dougie loves to bomb the puck to the net and look for a deflection. He just has to shoot more. Expect all of this tonight.
