September 28th, 2018 vs. Chicago Blackhawks
September 28th, 2018 was an emotional night for some Canes fans as long time Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward made his first appearance at PNC Arena as a visitor. At the time the Canes were on a 1-4-2 skid, with their only win coming a few days earlier against the same Hawks team.
With a total of 18 career game winning goals, his overtime winner against Ward has to one of the more memorable. Spoiling Ward’s return, Aho showed extreme patience waiting out Chicago’s defenseman Brent Seabrook.

Once he beat Seabrook Ward’s five-hole opened up, allowing him to sneak the puck under for the overtime winner. You could see the pure emotion of his face once the puck went in for his first goal in over a month (13 games). Given whom the goal was scored against, it earned a spot in the top five memorable goals.
