Hitting the 100 career goal milestone, Sebastian Aho has had his fair share of game defining moments. Let us relive five memorable goals from the Carolina Hurricanes’ elite young forward.
Scoring career goals number 100 and 101 against the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday night, Sebastian Aho is the youngest player in Carolina Hurricanes history to hit the 100 goal milestone. Trailing only Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel in a majority of the offensive categories, among players drafted in 2015, it is safe to say the 22 year old Fin has been the steal of the draft in the second round.
Entering his rookie season with a lot of promise and expectations, Aho’s impact on the ice was immediately felt. Making his NHL debut October 13th, 2016 against the Winnipeg Jets, the rookie forward recorded his first NHL point, an assist, in the third period on a Victor Rask goal.
Flash forward almost four years, 273 regular season games, and 226 points later, Sebastian has become every bit of the elite player the organization was hoping for on both sides of the puck.
Before he ever put on a Hurricanes uniform or stepped foot on NHL ice Aho was producing at a point per game pace for Karpat in the Finnish Elite League, something that was unheard of from an 18 year old. Thrusted into the national spot light with his dominating performance at the 2016 World Junior Championships with Finland, he elevated his game with and impressive 14 points in seven games in route to a gold medal.
Earning an invite to the Finnish National team for the IIHF Men’s Worlds in the same season, Aho was given a chance to play against elite NHL players before making his NHL debut. Against the best of the best, Sebastian once again rose to the challenge, putting up 7 points in 10 games.
Signing his Entry Level Deal later the that summer, it was clear Aho was going to become a dominating force for the Hurricanes and the new face of the franchise. Now with an impressive milestone behind him, lets relive five of the more memorable goals from the early stages of “Seabass'” career.
