The Carolina Hurricanes are full of amazing players within the organization, but today we talk about a very special player with a special leadership style: Jordan Martinook.

The Carolina Hurricanes are a fun organization, and even though their birth was only in 1997, there is a lot of history to this team. A lot of great players have played for this team, and in that short period helped the Canes win the cup in 2006, less than a decade after coming to Carolina.

Everyone knows there are players that are simply amazing on the ice; from Rod Brind’Amour to Gleason, to Sebastian Aho today. There have also been exceptional leaders that have come through this organization between both Brind’amour, the Staal brothers, and Justin Williams. But today we look at a new player that has stolen the hearts of the fans in Raleigh, the players, and the coaches alike.

Is Jordan Martinook the best Carolina Hurricanes player of all time? No, however he is a very valuable player off the ice and a great hockey player on it. That what the hype is all about. Martinook is an incredible leader, and the way he leads is uncommon, yet special.

Martinook, often called “The Marty Party”, has a way with his actions that inspires the Canes. The guys don’t feel pressure like they are being degraded, or the expectations are too big. The Hurricanes are all about having fun and playing good hockey while having said fun, and that’s exactly what Martinook does.

He creates an atmosphere where guys want to play, to improve and better themselves as hockey players and young men. To further explain how Jordan works: Martinook is a ball full of energy. Think of the puppy you have that gets all excited to see you after you went to work all day. That’s Martinook seeing Andrei Svechnikov after not being with him for a few hours.

On any sports team, the chemistry and locker room vibes are so important. If a team does not get along they will not win, simple. Martinook makes sure the guys have fun off of the ice and is always a huge encouragement.

While Rod and Staal lay down the hammer, Martinook comes up behind them and gives them wet willies. There is no source confirming this yet, but Martinook keeps the spirits in check and the boys heads on track of why they are there: to win and have fun doing it. Martinook does more than just lead the team. What makes him so special is his community engagement.

The Canes all love to do fun things when Brind’Amour give them a day off. Brock McGinn goes fishing, Aho and Svechnikov play Uno and Call of Duty, and Jaccob Slavin reads his kids bed time stories. But Martinook gets out and involved with the community.

While Jordan isn’t from Raleigh (nobody is from Raleigh-Durham) he loves to get out there and see what the triangle has to offer. Just last year The Durham Bulls made a playoff run just like the Canes and of course, Martinook was there to cheer them on. He also made an appearance to a few NC State football games this year and last, like any super intelligent person would.

Jordan Martinook is the glue for this Canes team and for the local community around Raleigh. He is all around the player that the Hurricanes don’t deserve but need. As long as Marty Party is on the roster, the greater triangle of North Carolina will be a pleasant place to live.

Thank you Martinook, from all Canes fans, for all that you do. Keep doing you.
