Alex Nedeljkovic (2nd Round, 37th Overall Pick)

Many in the hockey community believe that current Charlotte Checkers goalie Alex Nedeljkovic is the Hurricanes future at goalie. Like Fleury, Nedeljkovic hasn’t necessarily been given a lot of opportunities with the Canes. Alex has seen just 2 games played (allowing only 2 goals) for the Canes after being drafted all the way back in 2014.

However, “Ned” has been given a lot of opportunities with the Charlotte Checkers, the Canes AHL team. As a member of the Checkers, Ned has earned 74 wins as well as holding multiple records and accolades.

In the 2017-2018 season, Ned set a record for the most wins by a goalie for the Charlotte Checkers with 31 wins. Ned broke this record a season later when he won 34 games in 1 season with the Charlotte Checkers.

The 2018-2019 season was a season of record setting for Alex as he not only was the AHL goalie of the year but he had the best goals allowed average with a 2.26, was selected to the AHL all star team and led his club to the organizations first Calder cup Championship.

Alex is an NHL ready goaltender with a spectacular glove and reaction skills, getting Ned in the second round of the draft in 2014 was a steal. Not to mention that Alex has scored 2 goals in the professional level as a goalie.
