Round Two

The Carolina Hurricanes Started this round with three picks including two back to back picks early on. But a trade with the Ottawa Senators dropped a from the 37th to the 44th and a trade with the Minnesota Wild that sent them the 59th pick for a pair of later picks saw them pick only two players.

Pick 36:

The 6’3″ goaltender is an excellent pick at number 36. He currently plays in the Russian second league. This guy has the potential to be a starting goaltender in the NHL if his development continues to do well. Could possibly see him in Charlotte soon.

Grade: B+

Pick 44:

Pick Analysis. Sarnia- OHL. Jamieson Rees. 109. Scouting Report. Center. 44. player

Not the tallest center available, but his play in Sarnia has been more than solid. Had he been over 6′ he would have gone in the first round. This is an excellent pick for a guy who will continue to fill in the pipeline for the Carolina Hurricanes as the years go by. Could be NHL ready in a couple of years.

Grade: A

The Hurricanes made a pair of trades during this round that saw the 37th and 59th picks go to other teams each for a return of two picks each. That left them with three picks in the third period.
