The Powerhouses
We’ve talked about gods and monsters. Men and women with the power to stop speeding bullets and lift houses. But there is still more powerful beings out there. Beings with the powers that simply places them well outside of the usual heroes. That power manifests itself in many ways. After all these are the Heros that Heros look up to.
These are the Heros that guide the Marvel Universe. In the same way there are players and individuals within the Carolina Hurricanes that have guided this team to their current success and will continue to guide them to future success. Let’s find out who the powerhouses of the Carolina Hurricanes are.

Captain Marvel- Justin Williams
While Justin Williams isn’t Captain America, he is still another Captain in the Marvel Universe; a much much more powerful Captain; Captain Marvel. Already saved the planet once before jetting off into the universe to help save more and more planets, Captain Marvel returned when the planet needed her most.
Justin Williams is not much different. Once upon a time he helped save the Carolina Hurricanes and set them on course to win their first Stanley Cup. That was the beginning of the legend of Mr.Game 7 as he jetted off to the Kings and helped them win two Cups. Now he is back with the Carolina Hurricanes, will he stay and try to help them win a second cup as well?

Nick Fury- Rod Brind’amour
Nick Fury was the man behind the concept of the Avengers. “There was an idea, to bring together a group of remarkable people, to see if we could become something more. So when they needed us, we could fight the battles that they never could.” Rod Brind’amour brought together those remarkable people mentioned in the previous slides.
Back in the day Rod was the leader of the Carolina Hurricanes and on the ice each night giving it his all. Not much unlike Nick Fury who was once a top SHIELD agent on the front lines of alien invasions and such. There he was matched up with the Captain Marvel of the Carolina Hurricanes, Justin Williams. Now both Captain Marvel and Justin Williams have returned to help lead the team.
Rod Brind’Amour took the heroes on the roster and brought them together. He gave them purpose. He set them out each night with the task of bring in a win and points each night until they made the playoffs. That was his idea. Those were his remarkable people. In the end they became something more. They fought the battles other Hurricanes rosters never could.
It doesn’t hurt that they both enjoy throwing around bad words.

Doctor Strange- Don Waddell
Don Waddell looked into the future and saw over 14 million ways the 2018-2019 regular season would end. There was only one way it ended with a playoff berth and a deep run into the postseason. That involved every move he has done so far since he took the reigns of the General Manager position with the departure of Ron Francis.
Everything Don Waddell has done, every trade, draft pick, free agent signing, or call up has been for the sole purpose of ensuring that the team makes the playoffs now and moving forward. Even if that means he sacrifices a few players that many would have never dreamt of trading away and bringing in players that started as question marks and are now Heroes of the Carolinas.
Not to mention the fact that only a Sorcerer Supreme could land the trade of the Century where Victor Rask left for Minnesota and Nino Niederreiter came to Carolina. The fact that that trade was one for one will never cease to amaze me. That was some magic. I don’t think the ancient one could have managed that trade.
