Is there any way for the Carolina Hurricanes to get better during the off-season without trading a valued asset away? We’ll see soon.

For the Carolina Hurricanes, putting together a winning roster that can succeed on the ice consistently is something that fans haven’t seen in a long time. The front office needs to give the coaching staff and better current players in the locker room more resources to win in the coming years. Pressure is really mounting on the entire franchise to finally make that successful push to the postseason.

Since the regular season wrapped up a few weeks ago, concluding after an overtime Canes win over the Tampa Bay Lightning at home on April 7, it’s officially the off-season for them. The focus shifts to starting on the long list of tasks the front office, players, and coaching staff needs to improve upon and knock out before the start of 2018-19.

The Canes wound up with the sixth place finish in the Metropolitan Division this season, with only the New York Islanders and New York Rangers behind them. Five teams total from the Metro made it to the playoffs, and the Canes had the most points among those that did not.

Things are going to change for the Canes during the summer. In fact, change could already be on the way this weekend with head coach Bill Peters announcing decision as to whether he’ll stay with the team next season. That could set of a chain reaction to kick things off this spring.

Here’s a look at the five players for the Carolina Hurricanes that are most likely to be traded during the summer.
