Pick Explanation: The Carolina Hurricanes will look to add depth to their defense in the 2014 NHL Draft. Though they were not able to do that in round one or two, they will pick a defenseman with their 3rd round draft pick.
Brycen Martin has good size, skill, and attitude. He is a great talent on offense, and scouts say that he rarely makes any mistakes. He may be the best defensive prospect available at pick #67 in the draft, if he is available at that time.
Brycen Martin played alongside fellow NHL draft prospect Julius Honka in Swift Current this past season, and that definitely helped his draft stock.
The Carolina Hurricanes picking Martin 67th may be a reach, but that would be a great pick for the team if they got him.
