Icing on the Cake: Happy Birthday Joe Corvo

Joseph Corvo was born today, June 20th, 34 years ago in Oak Park, Illinois. The Carolina Hurricanes signed the 6’0, 204 lbs defenseman as a free agent in July 2010. He was previously with the LA Kings (drafted in 1997, 4th Round, 83rd Overall) and Ottawa Senators.

Mr. Corvo ended the season with 40 points (11 g, 29 a) in 82 games played. He has past successes to boast. On October 26, 2006 Corvo broke a record with the Ottawa Senators for the most points by a defenseman in one game (1 g, 4 a). He also represented the US in the IIHF World Championships in 2003 and 2005. In 1997, he was crowned Most Outstanding Defenseman at the World Junior Championships and won a silver medal. Joe is also the third D-man in Hurricanes history to earn a hat-trick.

Sorry ladies, #77 is married to his beautiful wife Angela. They have two sons, Cameron and Maddux. Joe also happens to be very skilled at baseball. So talented. Random fact…Jeff Skinner was recently quoted stating Joe is one of the best dressed men on the team.

As with all birthday posts, I channel my superwoman powers to bestow gifts upon the birthday boy. Here’s what Joe is getting from me this year…

  •  Every season of Family Guy on DVD, including the season that has yet to air.
  • VIP, including backstage, passes to the July 14th O.A.R. concert.
  • An unlimited supply of pizza from any restaurant delivered by Seth McFarland.
  • A replica Wrigley Field built in his backyard to play baseball with his boys.

Happy Birthday Joe Corvo. May you have a very blessed and successful 2011-12 season! In the meantime caniacs, here’s some kick’in Corvo highlights…

Not with the Canes, but a very memorable goal for Corvo…
