Carolina Hurricanes Trade Rumors: Jay McClement, Tim Gleason, and Patrick Dwyer are Next to Go

The Carolina Hurricanes had a big day yesterday as they went out and moved two key pieces for future assets.

The day started with Jiri Tlusty getting traded to the Winnipeg Jets for draft picks. You can read more about that here.

Later on in the day, the Carolina Hurricanes made a great move and traded defenseman Andrej Sekera to the Los Angeles Kings for a 1st round pick and a prospect. You can read more about that here.

The Canes aren’t done trading quite yet. With unrestricted free agents like Jay McClement, Tim Gleason, and Patrick Dwyer still on the team, Hurricanes GM still has deals to make.

David Pagnotta reiterated that on Twitter.

All of McClement, Gleason, and Dwyer will likely get mid to late round draft picks.

If Jay Harrison got a 6th round pick out of the Winnipeg Jets, it certainly seems realistic to get much more out of McClement and Gleason.

Jay McClement could probably draw a couple mid-round picks out of a contender, or maybe even more. There has reportedly been a lot of interest in the bottom six center.

Tim Gleason may be able to draw some mid-round picks, as well. Gleason is much more valuable than Harrison, in my opinion, so a 4th round pick for his services seems possible.

Patrick Dwyer won’t hold nearly as much value as Gleason and McClement. As a fourth line winger/depth forward, the Carolina Hurricanes could probably get a 6th or 7th round pick for Dwyer.

The 2015 NHL Trade Deadline is just 5 days away, and the Carolina Hurricanes and general manager Ron Francis are hitting crunch time with these deadline deals involving pending UFA’s.
