Yesterday the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame recognized the 2006 Hurricanes Stanley Cup-winning championship team as part of their “Great Moments” honorees. Although we have more than one type of professional sports teams here, the Hurricanes are the first to bring a professional title to the Old North State. Jason Karmanos, Glen Wesley, Eric Staal, Chad LaRose and Jeff Daniels were on hand to receive the honors. According to their website the hall “celebrates excellence and extraordinary achievement in athletics. The Hall of Fame also commemorates and memorializes exceptional accomplishments in sports for the inspiration and enjoyment of all North Carolinians, especially the youth, through popular exhibits and educational displays.” This North Carolinian certainly counts the 2006 Cup win as enjoyable and inspirational! I am looking forward to more hockey moments and figures being honored in the future. Check out the official Hurricanes site for a great write-up about the honor. The NC Sports Hall of fame website article is here. Make sure to click on the team picture for a great, super-sized view! … [visit site to read more]

@Esbee92 I swear this is my last tweet about Ovi. If you want to be the face of the NHL you have to actually BE THE FACE OF THE NHL.

This tiny tweet generated a really great conversation with Calgary’s Flame for Thought’s Cait Platt about the “face of the NHL.” This was her response.
