Players to Watch
Haydn Fleury – Defense, #5, Carolina Hurricanes 2014 1st Round Draft Pick (7th overall)
All eyes will be on the Carolina Hurricanes’ most recent first round draft pick, Haydn Fleury, this week. After being picked 7th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft, Haydn Fleury has a lot of high expectations to live up to.
The big, mobile defenseman will be the biggest player to watch throughout rookie camp, and hopefully he will put on an impressive show in front of the Carolina Hurricanes fan base and coaching staff.
Brock McGinn – Left Wing, #51, Carolina Hurricanes 2012 2nd Round Draft Pick (47th overall)
While Haydn Fleury is the new, big face coming into Carolina Hurricanes Development Camp, Brock McGinn may have the most to prove. After an outstanding season with the Scott Walker and Guelph Storm in the OHL, Brock McGinn will look to make the jump into the NHL this season.
With the Carolina Hurricanes forward unit as unpredictable as ever entering the 2014-2015 season, a strong showing from Brock McGinn could help him get his name into contention for a spot on the NHL team next season.
Bryan Moore – Right Wing, #79, Carolina Hurricanes Camp Invitee
Bryan Moore, born in Matthews, North Carolina, is one of several homegrown prospects attending Canes camp. Bryan Moore and goalie Logan Halladay were both born in North Carolina and will have a chance to prove that they are worthy of a spot in the Carolina Hurricanes organization.
Moore put up impressive numbers last season in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He will look to continue that success as he returns to his home state to compete in Carolina Hurricanes Development Camp.
