Caniacs React to the Return of Tim Gleason

Carolina Hurricanes fans woke up to interesting news this morning. Long time Canes defenseman, Tim Gleason, has returned to Raleigh on a one-year contact paying $1.2 million for the 2014-15 season. Gleason was traded to Toronto on January 1st in exchange for John-Michael Liles. You know the history, so how did fans react? There were a few common themes…

The price is right…

Good things come to those who wait…

Let the man play his game…

The loss of Brett Bellemore was a common theme with complainiacs…

Chip Alexander had a brief conversation with Gleason…

Despite the mixed reviews of this latest transaction, Gleason wore the “A” in Raleigh for a reason. He was well liked by his teammates and was a leader in the locker room. I think Caniacs will be more welcoming if they get a healthy Gleason that is allowed to play his game.

If you need a reminder on the Big Husky’s game…

I see this as a positive, especially at the price.
Now if only the Canes can solidify the Center and right wing third line- they may be a contender for one of the last playoff spots.

I agree, Ron. A higher price tag would have been upsetting, for sure. Thanks for reading!

I am not excited about this move at all. I loved Gleason for many years but he looked terrible the last 2 seasons. I would much rather have seen a different free agent signed.

Many other fans share in your opinion. Caniac Nation is definitely split on this one. Thanks for reading!
