NHL Draft 2014: When Do the Hurricanes Pick?

The 2014 NHL Draft begins tonight at 7:00 pm in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center. Cardiac Cane will be all over everything that happens on draft surrounding the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Carolina Hurricanes enter the NHL Draft with 7 picks. If Ron Francis, Carolina Hurricanes General Manager, decides to make trades, that number could change, and we will update you if anything happens.

The Carolina Hurricanes hold the following picks in the 2014 NHL Draft:

1. 7th Overall Pick (1st Round)

2. 37th Overall Pick (2nd Round)

3. 67th Overall Pick (3rd Round)

4. 96th Overall Pick (4th Round – From the Vancouver Canucks via trade)

5. 97th Overall Pick (4th Round)

6. 127th Overall Pick (5th Round)

7. 187th Overall Pick (7th Round)

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired the 96th pick in the draft in a preseason trade with the Vancouver Canucks. The Hurricanes traded Zac Dalpe and Jeremy Welsh to the Canucks for Kellan Tochkin and that fourth round pick.

The Carolina Hurricanes previously held a sixth round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, but they dealt that pick to the Los Angeles Kings along with Anthony Stewart and a draft pick in the 2013 NHL Draft for enforcer Kevin Westgarth on January 13, 2013. Westgarth was traded to the Calgary Flames on December 30, 2013.

The NHL Draft is bound to be a good one, and Cardiac Cane will have all the latest news, rumors, and updates along the way.
