Over the next few weeks, Cardiac Cane will take a look at every player on the Carolina Hurricanes and see how they played in the 2013-2014 season.
2013-2014 Regular Season Stats: 58 games played, 9 goals, 12 assists, 21 points, -14
Elias Lindholm was the fifth pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. After making the team out of training camp, high expectations were set for the Swedish teenager.
The point production was not there in ELias Lindholm’s first season in the NHL, but it rarely is for 18-year-old Swedish forwards. After playing years in Sweden, it takes time to adjust to the NHL, and Elias Lindholm did eventually adjust pretty well.
After struggling for most of the first half of the season, Elias Lindholm finished the regular season playing very well Jeff Skinner and Riley Nash. If Elias Lindholm can take the next step in his career next season, he will set himself up to be a very good NHL player.
Next season will be big for Elias Lindholm. He showed a lot of promising signs in his rookie season. He went from a league in Sweden where there is more ice surface, less hitting, and more finesse to the NHL where there is less space and much more physicality.
That was a difficult process for Elias Lindholm, but he handled it well through injuries and struggles. Ultimately, I think next season will be more of a sign of what to expect in the future from Elias Lindholm than this season was.
End of Season Grade: C+
