Kevin Dineen, former head coach of the Florida Panther, appears to be the most talked about candidate for the next head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Dineen led the Florida Panthers to the playoffs in his first season as head coach in the 2011-2012 season. The Panthers finished with 94 points and the Southeast Division crown that year.
After missing the playoffs in the 2013 shortened season, Kevin Dineen and the Panthers started the 2013-2014 season with a 3-9-4 record. He was fired just 16 games into that season.
Kevin Dineen coached Canada to their women’s gold medal in the 2014 Winter Olympics. After being so successful in coaching international play, Kevin Dineen will likely be hot candidate for the Carolina Hurricanes and many other NHL teams.
Kevin Dineen is also a former teammate of Carolina Hurricanes General Manager Ron Francis.
