The Carolina Hurricanes made three big announcements on Monday that completely changed the look of the Carolina Hurricanes’ front office.
The highlight of Monday’s announcements was Ron Francis‘ promotion to General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, but the addition of Mike Vellucci and the promotion of Brian Tatum were also big moves for the organization.
Mike Vellucci, former General Manager and head coach of the OHL’s Plymouth Whalers, will be an assistant General Manager to Ron Francis. His success at Plymouth should translate to the NHL under the wing of Ron Francis. He will be a set of fresh eyes in the Canes front office that will help with drafting young talent and making changes.
Brian Tatum has been with the Carolina Hurricanes organization for 16 years. Since the summer of 2012, Tatum has been the vice president of team operations. He is finally getting a big promotion after paying his dues for over 15 years in the organization.
Brian Tatum will be good at handling the business side of the Assistant GM role, and Mike Vellucci will be good at handling the hockey side of things.
I think the new look for the Carolina Hurricanes’ front office will prove to be very efficient. The new front office is an upgrade over what we have had for the past five seasons. At this point, any change is a good change.
