My Opinion on GM Moves
Yesterday you got Brett’s opinion on the GM changes, so today you’ll get mine. While this move had to be done, I do like it. Ron Francis seems like a guy that is determined to succeed and had a great track record as a player.
Being a GM is a completely different beast, and having little experience will be tough, but Francis will fight for people’s respect.
I also like the addition of Mike Velluci, though, I’m surprised he wasn’t hired as a coach. He’s done a great job with the Plymouth Whalers, but having him in a management is something I didn’t see coming.
If the Canes decide to keep Kirk Muller, which is a real possibility, Velluci could be seen as a candidate to take over that role if Muller doesn’t succeed right away.
Overall, yesterday was a good day for the Hurricanes’ future and this summer will be a fun one.
