Charlotte Checkers Recap

The Checkers were eliminated from the AHL playoffs last night as they lost to the Milwaukee Admirals, 5-1, and the Oklahoma City Barons defeated the Iowa Wild, 4-3.

The Barons’ win gives them a four-point lead over the Checkers, which cannot be made up as Charlotte plays their last game of the season today.

The Checkers’ lopsided loss was never pretty as they gave up the first four goals of the game before Ryan Murphy scored in the second period. Aaron Palushaj and Zach Boychuk added assists.

John Muse made 29 saves, while Sergey Tolchinsky did not make his AHL debut.

However, he’ll have another oppurtunity, depending on what coach Jeff Daniels decides to do with the lineup as the Checkers play the Rockford Ice Hogs in their last game of the season tonight at 8 p.m.

Some good news is that it looks like Zach Boychuk will finish the season with the league-lead in goals.
