World Championship News

Jordan Staal has not received an invitation from Canada yet to play in the tournament. Although, he is seen as somewhat of a disappointment in his first two years in Raleigh, there’s no doubt he deserves to be on the team and can definitely provide some scoring and defensive help. Eric has already said he will not play.

Nathan Gerbe and Jiri Tlusty will not play for USA and Czech Republic, respectively. They both cited being free agents as the reason for turning down the invites, which is understandable given how this summer could be for the Hurricanes.

Anton Khudobin was invited to play for Russia, a day after Andrei Loktionov was invited. Loktionov will attend the training camp, meaning he is likely to play. No word on Khudobin’s decision yet.
