Hurricanes’ Outlook

The Canes’ five-game streak of earning points came to an end on Saturday night when they lost to the New Jersey Devils’ 3-1. Jeff Skinner had the lone Hurricanes’ goal in the game.

The loss makes it nearly impossible for the team to make the playoffs, which was already an extreme longshot.

Drayson Bowman and Jiri Tlusty practiced yesterday and may be ready to rejoin the lineup as the season quickly comes to a close.

Cam Ward is expected to get the start after practice yesterday and Anton Khudobin’s loss to the Devils in the last game.

Rangers’ Outlook

The Rangers clinched a playoff spot last night, despite not playing as the Devils lost 1-0 to the Calgary Flames. However, the team still has home ice to fight for as the Philadelphia Flyers are hot on their tails.

In the Rangers’ last game, they lost to the Ottawa Senators, 3-2, but have an impressive 7-2-1 record in their last 10 to improve their playoff chances.

Mats Zuccarello leads the team with 57 points in 74 games. Trade deadline acquisition Martin St. Louis only has one goal and three assists in 17 games since the trade.

Henrik Lundqvist played against the Senators, but Chad Johnson has been a reliable backup.

A recap will be posted after the game.
