Charlotte Checkers Recap

The Checkers continued making a playoff run and last night, they did it convincing fashion as they won 7-0 over the Iowa Wild.

It took until five minutes left in the first period for the Checkers’ to score with Zach Boychuk netting his first of three.

In the second, Brett Sutter and Boychuk added one each before Sutter, Victor Rask, Boychuk and Philippe Cornet scored in the third stanza.

Boychuk also had two assists for a five-point night. Chris Terry had three assists, Justin Shugg had two and Rask added an assist.

John Muse made 22 saves in the game.

The Checkers will now face the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday in a big matchup for the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference. The Checkers moved up to the eighth spot, but the Rochester Americans and Barons have a game in hand. Charlotte has 71 points, Oklahoma City has 69.
