Charlotte Checkers Recap

Behind three power-play goals, the Checkers defeated the San Antonio Rampage, 4-3, last night.

Chris Terry and Zach Boychuk scored two consecutive goals on the man-advantage in the second period to give the Checkers a 2-0 lead. Brody Sutter also scored in the stanza before Ryan Martindale scored for the Rampage to cut the lead to 3-1.

The Rampage scored two goals in the third to tie the game, before Terry scored, again on the power-play that ended up being the game-winner.

Boychuk added an assist, while Michal Jordan had two. John Muse made 32 saves in the win.

The Checkers are now in ninth place in the Western Conference and two points behind the Rockford Ice Hogs for the last playoff spot. However, they no longer have any games in hand.

The Rampage and Checkers will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 1:30. p.m. in a game that could have big implications on Charlotte’s playoff hopes.
