Metropolitan Division Update

Many teams in the Metropolitan Division took the ice on Thursday night.

The division leading Pittsburgh Penguins took on the Detroit Red Wings in Hockey Town last night. A tightly contested game ended in a 5-4 overtime win for the Detroit Red Wings on their home ice. Daniel Alfredsson led the way for the Wings with his 3 point (2 goals, 1 assist) night.

The Columbus Blue Jackets took on the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night, and they were back in action Thursday night against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre in Quebec. The Blue Jackets picked up a big 3-2 win over Montreal. Brandon Dubinsky, Ryan Johansen and Derek MacKenzie all scored for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Philadelphia Flyers picked up an important 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Thursday. Wayne Simmonds scored 2 of the Flyers’ 4 goals, while Jamie Benn scored both of Dallas’ goals against the Flyers. Steve Mason played very well for the Philadelphia Flyers in net with 33 saves on 35 shots.
