The thing that has plagued the Carolina Hurricanes the most this season is their unreliable bottom-six forwards. Players like Radek Dvorak, Drayson Bowman, and others have been completely unnoticeable at times.

Players like Manny Malhotra and Nathan Gerbe are players in the bottom-six that have been somewhat reliable. Manny Malhotra’s faceoff capabilities are severely under rated, and he has been a great teacher for other Canes centermen. Nathan Gerbe has put points on the board, but he was playing with Jordan Staal for much of the season too.

There will be a lot of great free agents out there this summer. Ryan Callahan, Jarome Iginla, Matt Moulson, and Thomas Vanek all are unrestricted free agents at the end of the season if their team does not resign them.

While the names above are enticing, they are also pretty unlikely signings from the Carolina Hurricanes.

There are some players in this year’s upcoming free agent class that could really help the Carolina Hurricanes without hurting their wallet, and we all know that the Carolina Hurricanes hate breaking the wallet at some times.

Let’s take a look at some players that could really help the Canes’ bottom-six group of forwards.
