Charlotte Checkers Recap

Despite a strong effort in net from Mike Murphy, the Checkers’ three-game winning streak came to an end as the team lost to the Lake Erie Monsters, 3-2, yesterday. Murphy made 40 saves in the game.

The Monsters scored first before Chris Terry tied the game, but Karl Stollery scored in the second period to put Lake Erie up 2-1.

The lead would last until Rasmus Rissanen scored to tie the game in the third period, but more than a minute later, Monsters’ defenseman Brett Clark scored the game-winner.

Yesterday’s game was a vital one for the Checkers, who had the chance to pass the Oklahoma City Baron for ninth place in the Western Conference, but failed to take the opportunity.

The Checkers have the next two days off before they travel to take on a common opponent, the Norfolk Admirals, on the road. Including the Admirals game, the Checkers have 13 games remaining, which includes four games against the Barons.
