The Carolina Hurricanes Recall Chris Terry From The Charlotte Checkers

General Manager Jim Rutherford announced Monday night that the Carolina Hurricanes have recalled forward Chris Terry from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

This is Chris Terry’s second recall of the year. He was recalled in November of 2013 and played seven games from November 7th to November 21st. Chis Terry had 0 points and was a -3 in that seven game stint. He did score a shootout-winning goal on November 15th against the Anaheim Ducks. The Carolina Hurricanes won that game 3-2.

Chris Terry is tied with Zach Boychuk for the Charlotte Checkers team lead in points. He has 23 goals and 33 assists (56 points) in 56 games. Zach Boychuk has 28 goals and 28 assists (56 points) in 55 games for the Charlotte Checkers.

Chris Terry’s 11 power play goals ranks second on the Charlotte Checkers behind Zach Boychuk (14). The Carolina Hurricanes may decide to use Chris Terry on their struggling power play.

The Carolina Hurricanes recalled Chris Terry because of Jiri Tlusty‘s injury. With Chris Terry, the Carolina Hurricanes have 13 healthy forwards. That is also including Radek Dvorak who returned to practice on Monday from an upper-body injury.

The Carolina Hurricanes do not have to use Chris Terry, but they might throw him in the lineup to see if he can continue his American Hockey League success with the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL. At this point there is nothing to lose.
