Charlotte Checkers Recap

The Texas Stars may have scored first in their game against the Checkers, but it didn’t matter as Charlotte scored three unanswered goals to win, 3-1, and keep its playoff hopes alive.

The Stars’ Matej Stransky scored five minutes in to give Texas its lone lead of the game.

The lead lasted for almost 20 minutes, until Zach Boychuk scored in the second period to tie the game. About two minutes later, Nicolas Blanchard scored his sixth of the season to give the team the lead that it would not give up.

Chris Terry scored his 21st of the season on an empty-net to insure the Checkers win.

John Muse made 43 saves on 44 shots, while four different Checkers recorded assists.

With the win, the Checkers have moved within three points of the final playoff spot, but the eighth-placed Milwaukee Admirals have a game in hand.

The Checkers play the Lake Erie Monsters next on Saturday at 7 p.m.
