Charlotte Checkers Recap

The Checkers had their four-game winning streak ended last night as the team lost to the Iowa Stars, 3-0.

The Stars scored a goal a period and despite shooting 23 times, the Checkers could get nothing by Jack Campbell, who recorded the shutout.

Chris Terry led the Charlotte skaters with five shots, while defenseman Michal Jordan contributed three. Mike Murphy made 32 saves on 35 shots.

This loss hurts the Checkers chance of making the playoffs, had they won, they would have been a point behind ninth place Oklahoma City Barons and with a game-in-hand. Instead there’s a three-point difference. But the biggest problem is the seven-point gap between the Checkers and eighth place, which will be difficult to overcome.

The Checkers continue their busy stretch with a game against the San Antonio Rampage, who they beat in a shootout on Friday. Getting a similar or a better result is a must. John Muse will most likely be back in net, but the team obviously needs some scoring help.
