Winners: Martin St. Louis and the New York Rangers
The New York Rangers and the Tampa Bay Lightning made the biggest deal of the day when they exchanged captains. The Tampa Bay Lightning traded 38-year-old captain Martin St. Louis to the New York Rangers for captain Ryan Callahan and draft picks on trade deadline day.
The New York Rangers entered the day as playoff contenders, but adding Martin St. Louis could make them a Stanley Cup contender. St. Louis brings character, leadership, and he can flat out play hockey very well.
He’s an incredible play maker, and he has shown this year that he can score goals as well. He will bring a different dynamic to the New York Rangers.
The Tampa Bay Lightning got a very good player in Ryan Callahan, but the forward will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and there is no guarantee that he will resign with the team.
