Game Analysis

The Carolina Hurricanes fell to the Dallas Stars 4-1 in Texas on Thursday night. The Stars wanted it more than the Canes, and they deserved to get the big 4-1 win.

The Dallas Stars dominated for a majority of the game because they just wanted it more. The Carolina Hurricanes just looked like they did not care at times.

The only reason the Carolina Hurricanes had any chance in this game was because of Anton Khudobin. He played a great game against the Dallas Stars. He allowed three goals on 33 shots, but you can debate that all of the goals were not his fault.

Anton Khudobin was one of the few Carolina Hurricanes players that actually put in a winning effort against the Dallas Stars on Thursday.

The third period was extremely chippy and dirty. It all started when Antoine Roussel ran over Anton Khudobin. He made absolutely no attempt to move out of the way, he just lowered his shoulder and ran over him on the rush.

Ron Hainsey freed the beast on Roussel for lack of better words. Ron Hainsey defended his goalie and destroyed him in a fight after the incident. Ron Hainsey got a fighting major, instigator penalty, and a 10 minute misconduct penalty. Antoine Roussel got a fighting major, 5 minute charging penalty, and a game misconduct.

Elias Lindholm and Tuomo Ruutu played very well against the Dallas Stars. The two forwards created offensive chances all night long and did what they are good at doing.

This game for the Carolina Hurricanes was about bouncing back after a tough first game against the Buffalo Sabres. They came out and digressed against the Dallas Stars. They definitely took a step in the wrong direction against the Stars, and the schedule gets very tough this weekend as they play the Kings and Ducks.

Alexander Semin left the game in the second period with a lower-body injury, and he did not return to the game.

The Carolina Hurricanes will play Saturday afternoon at 4pm Eastern Time in California against the Los Angeles Kings.
