Justin Faulk Plays As The USA Is Defeated By Canada In The Semi-Finals

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk played in his first game of the Olympics for the USA as they lost to Canada 1-0 on Friday.

Justin Faulk wasn’t expected to play in the Olympics, but he was in to replace Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Paul Martin. Martin fell ill prior to the game.

Justin Faulk played just over a minute against Team Canada on Friday. This isn’t too surprising, considering he was a last second replacement for Paul Martin.

The USA lost a heart breaker against team Canada. The Americans had major struggles with their offense and with their power play. The USA had plenty of power plays throughout the game, but nothing worked.

Team Canada’s lone goal came off a Jamie Benn deflection in the second period. Jay Bouwmeester took the shot. Canada will play Sweden in the gold medal game on Sunday.

The USA will play Finland in the Bronze medal game tomorrow morning. I’m really looking forward to the matchup. I expect it to be a gritty, low scoring game, just like the USA and Canada game was.

Depending on Paul Martin’s health, Justin Faulk will get another opportunity to play again for Team USA, and hopefully he will play a bigger role for the team.
