The Charlotte Checkers Will Battle The Abbotsford Heat In A Weekend Series At The PNC Arena

All NHL players are out of action, but the players in the American Hockey League are still going strong. The Charlotte Checkers will play twice this weekend against the Abbotsford Heat at the PNC Arena, the home of your Carolina Hurricanes.

The first game will be on Saturday night at 5:00 pm. The second game will feature an afternoon battle that starts at 1:30 pm on Sunday.

The Charlotte Checkers have a 22-23-2 record going into the weekend. They find themselves near the bottom of the AHL’s Western Conference and six points out of a playoff spot, so this weekend will be very important for the Checkers.

Points will be hard to get against the Abbotsford Heat. The Heat lead the Western Conference with a 31-15-4 record. Youngsters Markus Granlund, Max Reinhart, Corban Knight, and Jan Ortio have lead the way for the Heat during their outstanding season.

Up to this point in the season, the Charlotte Checkers have been lead offensively by Aaron Palushaj (47 points),  Zach Boychuk (42 points), and Chris Terry (37 points).

John Muse has had an up and down season in net for the Charlotte Checkers. He has received a majority of the starts, and he has a 16-10-0 record with a 2.71 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.

This weekend will be a big one for the Charlotte Checkers. Make sure you go out and support them, if you can.
