Tuesday Carolina Hurricanes Report

My Opinion: Special teams have definitely been a low and the powerplay doesn’t get much worse than where it is now. The penalty kill looked okay at the start of the season, but has fallen off lately. Shootout and overtimes could be better also and that loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets before Christmas really stung.

And all that has created a tough run to the playoffs, but it is a high that the team is here now. At the beginning of the season, it was possible the team wouldn’t be where it is now, but things have worked out fine for the team.

One high that I would include would be the play of Andrej Sekera. He has solidified the top pairing and has helped made the defense a much better corps than it ever was last season. He’s also been helpful on offense, scoring nine goals this season.
