Bronze – United States of America

The teams that will medal in the Olympics could be interchangeable. The United States could very well end up winning the gold.

The USA has a great mix of size, speed, and talent on offense and defense. The USA has big power forwards like Blake Wheeler and David Backes, and they have extremely skilled forwards like Patrick Kane and Phil Kessel.

What may be the best part about the USA team is the leadership. Zach Parise, Dustin Brown, Ryan Callahan and David Backes are all experienced NHL captains. They are all known for their great leadership, and that will make a big impact on the USA.

I love the make up of Team USA. They have a lot of big, gritty forwards. Defensively, they have a lot of quick, offensively gifted players. Defensemen like Justin Faulk, Cam Fowler, and Kevin Shattenkirk can all move the puck well, and they all are very quick and talented defesnemen.

The goaltending will be tight. Ryan Miller and Jonathan Quick will likely compete for the starting job throughout the entire Olympic games. This should make both goalies better in the process.

I think Ryan Suter of the Minnesota Wild will be the big X-factor for the USA. Suter was a Norris Trophy finalist last season, and he has continued to be worth every penny of his big contract with the Wild. He will log huge minutes for the Americans, and he will be a force in all areas.
