Charlotte Checkers Recap

The Checkers weren’t able to stop their last three-game losing streak, but did earn a point as they fell to the Oklahoma City Barons, 4-3 in overtime yesterday.

Justin Shugg got the scoring started for the Checkers in the first period, but the Barons scored twice in the second period, before Brendan Woods scored his fifth of the season to tie it before the end of the period.

Will Acton scored the next goal for the Barons to give them a one-goal lead. Brody Sutter scored the game-tying goal and his second in two games with 38 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

But that would be all the Checkers could do before Roman Horak scored three and a half minutes in to win the Barons’ second game in a row over Charlotte after losing the first six.

The Checkers now have until Friday when they play the Abbottsford Heat, who beat them twice to start the losing streak.
