Charlotte Checkers Recap
A game after NHLer Cam Ward was recalled by the Hurricanes, things couldn’t have gone much worse in net for the Checkers as John Muse and Mike Murphy let up seven goals combined to the Abbottsford Heat, losing 7-1.
The Checkers let up four goals in the first period – all while Muse was in goal, but managed to not let up any in the second. The Heat got two goals to start the third before Philippe Cornet stopped the shutout, scoring with less than eight minutes left. Danny Biega had the lone assist, before the Heat added another one to end the game.
Murphy let up three goals, but made 24 saves. Muse surprisingly made only eight saves. Muse has usually been the rock in net for the Checkers this season.
The Checkers will have another chance – whether it’s a good thing or not – against the Heat tonight at 10 ET.
