Andrew Luistro is right on here. While these big comeback wins are nice, and you get points in the standings, the Canes can’t keep on relying on third period efforts. They need to come out in the first period and play a full 60 minutes. That has been an issue all year for the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Carolina Hurricanes are in a playoff spot right now, but they won’t go far in the postseason against tough opponents if they keep relying on these late game surges. The Carolina Hurricanes can’t afford to consistently dig themselves holes in games, because eventually, they won’t be able to dig themselves out of those holes.
The Charlotte Checkers will take on the Norfolk Admirals tonight at 7:15. The Charlotte Checkers are one point out of a playoff spot in the American Hockey League’s Western Conference, meanwhile the Norfolk Admirals sit in sixth place of the American Hockey League’s Eastern Conference.
Every game is crucial for the Charlotte Checkers, so a win against the Admirals would be big. It will be a little tougher because their leading point scorer, Aaron Palushaj, has been recalled by the Carolina Hurricanes, so the Checkers won’t have him in the lineup.
