Tuesday night’s game between the Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia has been postponed due to inclement weather in the Philadelphia area.
This the second time this year that the Carolina Hurricanes have been forced to postpone a game due to inclement weather. The Carolina Hurricanes’ January 7th game in Buffalo was postponed due to the Winter Vortex that brought severe winter weather to the north east. That game has been rescheduled to February 25th.
The game between the Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers will be played on Wednesday, January 22 in Philadelphia at 6 pm. The Carolina Hurricanes vs. Ottawa Senators game that was originally scheduled for Friday, January 23 at 7 pm will now be played on Saturday, January 24 at noon.
The Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers certainly wanted to play on Tuesday night, but putting people in danger wasn’t an option. The right decision was made, even though no one really wants to postpone a game.
Earlier today, the Carolina Hurricanes were pushing to get the game played tonight, but the Philadelphia Flyers wanted it to be postponed according to Frank Seravalli, Philadelphia Flyers beat writer for the Philadelphia Daily News.
“City has declared a snow emergency as of 4pm. Flyers would like to cancel tonight’s game, but Hurricanes are pushing to play. Waiting on NHL”

The Carolina Hurricanes are the only NHL team to have two postponed games this season.
