Charlotte Checkers Recap

Yesterday’s game against the Iowa Stars went much better for the Checkers as they beat the Stars, 6-1.

The Checkers scored three goals in the first period, one from Justin Shugg and two from Aaron Palsuahj before Curtis McKenzie scored the lone Stars goal.

Charlotte followed that with goals from Zach Boychuk and Philippe Cornet in the second period and one from Victor Rask in the third.

Greg Nemisz and Matthew Pistilli had two assists, while Shugg added one to his goal for two points. John Muse earned the win with 23 saves on 24 shots.

With 37 points, the Checkers are now in 11th in the Western Conference and five points out of the last playoff spot.

The Checkers now have off until Thursday when they play the Oklahoma City Barons again, who they have defeated four times this season.
