Hurricanes Outlook: The Canes may finally getting back to a healthy lineup as Eric Staal and Jiri Tlusty skated yesterday and Riley Nash was taken off of injured reserve on Saturday.
Staal will be welcomed back into the lineup with open arms as the center is much needed on the first line. He should help Jeff Skinner and Alexander Semin get back to the games they were playing before the captain’s injury.
If Tlusty and Nash are also back in the lineup it will help create depth for a team that couldn’t get a puck past the hot Sergei Bobrovsky on Friday night.
Jay Harrison played in place of Ryan Murphy against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but could take a seat for Ryan Murphy to help the Hurricanes’ offense.
Anton Khudobin has played every game since Cam Ward was injured, suffering his first loss against the Blue Jackets. Kirk Muller has a tough decision to make in net for this one.
Flames Outlook: The Flames were a middling team when the Hurricanes met them a month ago and things have only gotten worse.
With a 2-8-0 record in their last 10, the Flames have fallen to sixth place in the Pacific, only a point above the Edmonton Oilers.
Calgary lost its third game in a row Saturday, 2-1, against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Kevin Westgarth will make his return to Raleigh as he has been in the Flames’ lineup since he was traded to Calgary two weeks ago.
Jiri Hudler leads the team with 36 points in 45 games, but it’s a quick dropoff from there with Mike Cammalleri following him with 21 points in 37 games.
A starter has not been announced yet.
A recap will be posted after the game.
