Charlotte Checkers Recap
With less than two minutes left, it looked like the Checkers game against the Oklahoma City Barons would go to overtime, but Philippe Cornet had other plans for the Checkers as he scored with 1:26 left to give the team a 2-1 lead.
The first goal of the game didn’t come until the second period when the Barons’ Martin Gernat scored. Before the period ended A.J. Jenks scored to tie the game that would last until Cornet’s game-winning goal.
Aaron Palushaj had two assists and Justin Shug and Victor Rask had an assist each. John Muse made 36 saves on 37 shots for the win. The two wins this weekend gave the Checkers four wins over the Barons in four games this year.
Charlotte is now in 11th in the Western Conference. The Checkers next play Friday against the Iowa Stars.
