Carolina Hurricanes Injury Report: Eric Staal, Jiri Tlusty and Riley Nash Return To Carolina Hurricanes Practice

Good news came out of Carolina Hurricanes practice on Sunday. Three injured players, Eric Staal, Riley Nash and Jiri Tlusty, all returned to Carolina Hurricanes practice today.

Eric Staal missed three games with a lower-body injury. Eric Staal moved back on the first line with Alex Semin and Jeff Skinner during practice. The captain of the Carolina Hurricanes was definitely missed. Tomorrow night will be the Eric Staal’s first game since being kept off the Canadian Olympic Hockey Team. Hopedully he’ll play with a chip on his shoulder and with intensity.

Riley Nash was activated off Injured Reserve yesterday after missing five games with a lower-body injury. Nash practiced with Drayson Bowman and Tuomo Ruutu on the fourth line in practice.

Jiri Tlusty skated back on January 9th, but today was Tlusty’s first full practice with the Carolina Hurricanes since he had an emergency appendectomy on December 21st. Jiri Tlusty missed eight games after his surgery. It is great to see that he has fully recovered and is ready to go. Tlusty has had a dissappointing season, but there is still time for him to turn it around.

Manny Malhotra was not at practice with the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. As of now there has been no word on why this is. It could be a day off, or it could be an injury. Hopefully it is a day off, but we will let you know when we find out.

UPDATE

Manny Malhotra had a maintenance day on Sunday. He should be good to go on Monday as the Carolina Hurricanes take on the Calgary Flames.
